By qualifying for the finals through the upper bracket, M80 also received a map advantage for their upcoming affair, further boosting their chances to defeat NRG again. However, does that justify their tag as 1.22 favourites?

While they are unquestionably one of the best teams in the region, M80 have also played very competitive series against NRG, who have proven they can hang with M80 on multiple occasions. Still, M80 boast a better map pool, further boosting their chances of coming out ahead.

Over the three meetings, NRG have shown some fight – they beat M80 once (13-9) and took a map off them earlier this week, so there are reasons to believe NRG can play a competitive Counter-Strike series.

Since their loss to M80 in the upper bracket semifinals, NRG have bested Wildcard, Party Astronauts, and Legacy, who Nicholas "nitr0" Cannella and his crew reverse swept with 13-3 on Ancient and 13-8 on Inferno.

Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte was the standout player on the day with a 1.35 performance rating ahead of Joshua "oSee" Ohm with 1.20. The latter is also the fifth-highest-rated player of the tournament with a 1.26 performance rating

Verdict

M80 v NRG

M80 defeated NRG twice over the last month; however, they are only 3-2 up in maps won over that stretch, so it is more than fair to say that there is not much to set these two teams apart.
It does help that M80 have a map advantage for this series, but this hardly justifies the betting odds. So, while M80 are in a better position to win, 1.22 seem a bit too much.

NRG have shown great form of late, and they seem to have finally found their rhythm in the ESL Challenger League Season 48: North America playoffs. With a +50% win rate on five of seven maps in the rotation, NRG also should not struggle to be at least competitive on any maps that are played in the finals, so at 3.80, they are worth a bet to upset M80.
