AMKAL ESPORTS were priced as one of the biggest underdogs to place top two at BLAST Premier: Fall Showdown 2024, and that sounded fair. That is mainly because AMKAL were on a five-game losing streak ahead of the first-round fixture against Ninjas in Pyjamas.

However, the Russian squad exceeded expectations and made it past NiP in three maps, winning with 13-3 on Inferno, 3-13 on Ancient, and 19-17 on Vertigo. It was a very close ending, yet AMKAL proved to be the better team on the day.

Despite their success, it’s fair to question whether AMKAL can make it past OG, mainly due to their poor map pool. Still, if Aleksandr “TRAVIS” Timkiv can keep playing at this pace, the Russians should be in a good spot to do some damage on Friday.
