Liquid got themselves in a very advantageous position early – which is a state where Liquid usually do well, as they are very good at closing out games. It was not like Liquid fumbled severely, but they could have done better.

While we can criticise Liquid for their recent display, they held on well against some of the world's top LoL esports teams.

Both teams lost their first two series of the Swiss Stage. Team Liquid slipped against LNG Esports and Weibo Gaming, while paiN Gaming lost against G2 Esports and T1. This, however, does not prove the two teams are equal.

Team Liquid has been playing much better than their record suggests, and the recent loss against Weibo Gaming wouldn't have happened in 70% of scenarios. As a team who are very efficient in closing out games where they get a lead we expected more from TL, but they should have a significantly easier time getting there against a weaker opponent.
