Team Spirit vs Team Liquid Predictions

Team Spirit and Team Liquid are set to clash in the opening round of Group B at BLAST Premier: Fall Final 2024. It'll mark their first meeting since January when Liquid won, but according to the latest betting odds, Spirit should get their revenge.

Team Spirit are priced as 1.35 favourites to defeat Team Liquid with the top Counter-Strike betting sites, who have Liquid priced as 3.10 underdogs for the upcoming series. This is not too shocking as Spirit have accomplished more than Liquid this year, albeit Liquid have found much more success of late.

  • Team Liquid and Spirit both ended ESL Pro League Season 20 in 5th-8th-place
  • Team Spirit (#4) are better ranked than Team Liquid (#8)
  • Liquid have better form ranking

Head to Head

Team Spirit and Team Liquid last met in January, albeit that was before roster changes; hence, that outcome does not hold much weight.

  • Team Liquid 2-1 Team Spirit – January 24, 2024

Team Spirit Form

Team Spirit are one of the highest-rated Counter-Strike esports teams in the world and for a good reason. They have placed top-four in seven S-Tier tournaments this season and won four, including BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 #2 at the start of September.

Spirit did, however, fail to make it very far at ESL Pro League Season 20 last week and had to settle for a fifth-eighth-place finish after losing to the eventual champions, Natus Vincere. The relatively poor showing in Malta does not take away from everything Spirit have produced this year, but it does prove something we already know – Spirit, as good as they can be can be a bit inconsistent.

This has been noticeable of late, as Spirit have produced a few close series against lesser opponents, such as MIBR (1-2), MongolZ (1-2), 3DMAX (1-2) and Complexity (1-2).

Their high ceiling and occasional slip-ups make Spirit the type of team you would not trust when priced as massive favourites but always consider taking their side when priced as underdogs. In this case, it's more of the former.

Team Liquid Form

Team Liquid are priced as 3.10 underdogs to defeat Team Spirit on Wednesday, which gives them less than 1/3 chance of winning the series. That's a fairly low number especially considering how solid Liquid have looked of late.

Admittedly, Team Liquid have not won nearly as many tournaments as Spirit this season, yet they have looked good over the last two months. A top-eight finish at IEM Cologne 2024, winning BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2024, and a fifth-eighth-place finish at ESL Pro League Season 20 are all decent outcomes, especially if we take into account what kind of opponents Liquid had to face over that stretch.

In Malta, Liquid produced a 3-2 record, which might not look great, but it includes three 2-0 sweeps of ENCE, Virtus.pro, and Complexity and two competitive games against Vitality and G2 Esports.

Verdict

The offered betting odds on this match make little to no sense. They seem to be heavily affected by the brand recognition and don't take into account what the two teams have shown of late.

While Spirit are a more accomplished team with an arguably higher ceiling, Liquid are in better form - they have recently played very competitive games against teams of similar quality as Team Spirit.

While there are still some questions about whether Liquid's recent resurgence is anything more than a flash in the pan, they have shown improvement, which is a good enough reason to believe Liquid can hold their own on Wednesday.
