Team Spirit are one of the leading favourites to win ESL Pro League Season 20 which comes as no surprise. The Russian Counter-Strike team have been one of the more dominant sides of the season with three significant tournament titles to their name since June.

More recently, Team Spirit have also won BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 #2, so evidently they’re in great shape and ready to make a deep run at ESL Pro League Season 20.

One minor concern is that Spirit can have their off games, as seen during Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2024, but besides that minor slip-up, Spirit have been nearly unstoppable since February with just seven losses over that stretch.

Wildcard Form

Wildcard are one of the lowest-ranked Counter-Strike teams travelling to Malta and one of the prime candidates to crash out of the group stage. They have done well domestically, however, despite winning a handful of events, all were C-Tier and not once have Wildcard appeared in A or even S-Tier tournament.

This is a problem as Wildcard have little to no experience playing against elite squads, let alone one of the top teams in the world. They will, however, have some element of surprise as Spirit have never faced Wildcard before so preparation for this match could be tougher for the favourites – or they might also just not put too much thought into it knowing they’re qualitatively a superior team.

Wildcard are priced as massive underdogs for this series, which is hardly shocking. They’re ranked no.44 in the world, which isn’t terrible, but not comparable to Team Spirit, who have been sitting in the top-five for a while now.

Team Spirit have had their shaky moments in Cologne, albeit even there they lost to vastly superior teams, so there are not many reasons to believe that they will lose. Barring any major surprises, Team Spirit should run over Wildcard.
