Team Vitality have been on cruise control this tournament. They kicked off the IEM Rio 2024 campaign with a dominant win against 9z Team (13-3), and in the second round, the Bees swept The MongolZ (2-0).

In the recent series, The MongolZ pushed Vitality to overtime on Inferno (17-19), yet they showed little resistance on nuke and lost 8-13. With those wins, Vitality are 4-1 from their last five series, which includes just one loss against G2 Esports in the BLAST Premier: Fall Final 2024 and 15-2 from the last 17 outings.

Over the last two months, Team Vitality have been posting incredible results making it very difficult to doubt them and their chances to make a deep run in Brazil.

Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut is the Team's top-performing player of the tournament with a 1.81 average performance rating, ahead of Lotan "Spinx" Giladi. William "mezii" Merriman is the only player who has a below 1.00 rating over the last two series played.

HEROIC have not looked great since their top-four finish at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 #1 in May, but the Danish Counter-Strike squad have found some success in Rio.

Damjan "kyxsan" Stoilkovski and his men kicked off the tournament with a massive victory against the world no.2 team, G2 Esports, and the last round added another big win against their rivals, Astralis.

HEROIC won the series with 13-9 and 13-7, which is nothing to sneeze at. And while Astralis are clearly not playing at 100% yet, HEROIC looked very solid on the day, especially Guy "NertZ" Iluz and Abdulkhalik "degster" Gasanov, who led the server with 1.46 and 1.33 performance ratings, respectively.

Verdict

Team Vitality v HEROIC

HEROIC have been performing well above expectations at Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2024, but it remains to be seen whether their resurgence will be enough to overcome one of the hottest CS esports teams in the world.

The result of this series will mostly come down to whether Team Vitality slip or not, especially considering HEROIC have a better win rate than Vitality on just one map – Ancient. That said, Vitality have been playing some close maps against weaker opponents of late and with HEROIC's new-found momentum, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that the Danes take a map.
