Map one was winnable for the Vietnamese LoL esports team, yet they threw it away with questionable decisions and an overall poor approach to the game. The second map did not offer any surprises either and ended in a commanding victory for the European representatives.

It's not so much that Vikings lost against MAD Lions KOI, but the way they did it – Vikings made way too many unforced errors and showed a questionable macro approach. Not a good look.

The Brazilian squad started the LoL Worlds 2024 Play-In campaign with a 1-2 loss against PSG Talon. While this is not the optimal way to begin their tournament run, paiN Gaming performed well.

By taking a map off the (arguably) best team in the Play-Ins, paiN Gaming exceeded everyone's expectations. But it is not like they did not deserve to walk away with something.

Admittedly, PSG Talon did not step away from the 14.16 compositions, which somewhat helped paiN Gaming do some damage. Nevertheless, paiN forced the most stacked lineup of the play-ins to three maps, which is an admirable accomplishment.

Esports bookmakers have paiN Gaming priced as favourites for this series, which makes a lot of sense. Even though the VCS is a stronger region than Brazil's CBLOL, paiN Gaming looked far better in the first round, or better said Vikings looked significantly worse.

Moreover, while VCS features stronger teams, Vikings Esports are still only the second-best squad from the region, far below GAM Esports - so the region's strength does not really apply here. The 1.62 offer on paiN is more than fair.
