Wildcard and M80 are set to clash on Friday, October 4, in the first round of Group B at ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024. The two North American Counter-Strike teams last clashed in May, when Wildcard won, but according to the latest esports betting odds, M80 are expected to get their revenge.

Wildcard Gaming are priced as 2.80 underdogs to defeat M80, who are 1.38 favourites with crypto betting sites. Given M80's past success at the ESL Pro League Season 20, this is not surprising, even though Wildcard bested M80 in May.

Wildcard travel to Atlanta following a runner-up finish at ESL Challenger Katowice 2024: North American Qualifier, where they posted solid results, albeit they've mostly faced weaker regional opponents. Prior to the event, Wildcard attended ESL Pro League Season 20, where they did not make it far and placed 21st-28th, with a 1-3 record.

In Malta, Wildcard won against KOI (2-0) and lost against Team Spirit (0-2), 9z Team (0-2), and 3DMAX (0-2), which is not great, but also not surprising.

Overall, Wildcard have given us very few reasons to feel excited about them, and the last-minute roster change doesn't help.

M80 Form

M80 have done surprisingly well at ESL Pro League Season 20 last month. They exceeded expectations by placing top eight; however, that success comes with a bit of an asterisk, considering M80's road to the final eight was not that demanding.

In Malta, M80 defeated Complexity (2-0), Fnatic (2-0), and Imperial Esports (2-0) but then lost to MIBR (0-2). While beating Complexity, Fnatic, and Imperial is praiseworthy, M80 are still not quite up there with the elite few teams.

Since their run through the ESL Pro League Season 20, M80 have played 13 series and won all but four. Those include mainly games against other North American Counter-Strike teams during ESL Challenger League Season 48: North America - Regular Season.

Wildcard v M80

Wildcard defeated M80 in May, but that result holds very little weight considering M80's improvement over the next three months. They looked particularly solid in Malta, and while M80 haven't really beaten any top contenders, they still produced much more promising results than Wildcard.

Wildcard will also travel to Atlanta without Love "phzy" Smidebrant, who is one of the team's top performers, with a 1.21 rating over the last three months. Even with phzy, Wildcard would have a hard time emulating their success from May. Without the Swede, their chances of winning are not great.
